Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten at Cherry Drive Elementary! Kindergarten is a time of excitement, wonder, exploration, and discovery. Your child will work hard to academically, emotionally, and socially prepare themselves for First Grade.

Throughout the year your student will be pushed academically in numerous ways. Below we have added a few key ideas from each subject area:

• Literacy: Learn to read and write simple sentences and identify the main idea and supporting details in a text. Learn phonics skills and print concepts.
• Math: Learn to count, identify numbers, solve addition and subtraction problems, and think critically.
• Social Studies: Learn about economics, people around the world, language of the past, and how to be good citizens.
• Science: Learn about life and the environment, pushes and pulls, and weather
• SEL: Learn how to name emotions and regulate our bodies
