January 2019 Newsletter

HAPPY NEW YEAR CHERRY DRIVE!

I wish all Cherry Drive Families a new year filled with hope, good health and PROMISE! We are ready to make 2019 a year filled with success through hard work and dedication by continually providing students with a highly engaging optimal learning environment each and every day. Please make sure that your child continues to arrive to school on time. It’s so important for their continued growth in the classroom. Please also remember that students should not be on campus before 7:35 unless they are eating breakfast in which case they can be here as early as 7:20. Thank you for helping us ensure the safety of your children.

We had a wonderful time at our Holiday Read Aloud and it was an absolute joy to see the students reactions as they entered the gym that had been tranformed into the Polar Express! I loved the opportunity to be able spend time with all off the students as we enjoyed this magical story together!

We will be having our Assessment Day on January 18th. There is no school on this day, but students are required to come in for their designated hour to take their assessment and then they can leave for the day. The schedule is made using the first letter of your students last name and will be as follows:

Group 1:   A,B,M,N           8:00-9:00am

Group 2:   C,D,O,P,Q,T   9:00-10:00am

Group 3:   E,F,G,S,W      10:30-11:30am

Group 4:   H,I,J,R,V         1:00-2:00pm

Group 5:   K,L,U,Y,Z        2:00-3:00pm

Please remember that there is no school on January 21st due to it being Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

We are also getting ready to begin our Worlds Finest Chocolate Fundraiser and we greatly appreciate all of your support with our fundraising effort! It truly makes all the difference for our students!

Kindergarten registration will begin on January 28th. We will again be having AM and PM classes, as well our Extended Day Kindergarten. EDK is based off of income and is on a sliding scale again this year. Please make sure to enroll your students as soon as possible to ensure their spot as these do fill up quickly.

I want to thank all of the families for driving slowly and stopping at all crosswalks to ensure our student's safety before and after school. Your help contributes greatly to the continuing safety of our students.

Sincerely,

Tina Hepp
