Automatic Enrollment

All students will have a place at their new neighborhood school - Riverdale Elementary - for the 2027-2028 school year.

Prioritized School Choice

Families may also apply to another district school that is open to Choice and will be prioritized within the District’s lottery process.

Choice applications from students impacted by school closures will be prioritized AFTER applications for children of district staff members and for siblings to attend the same school and BEFORE all other applications.

We will have a dedicated student enrollment team that will contact each family to talk about their options and make sure they are set up for the 2027-2028 school year, if the board adopts the closure recommendation. 

• Transportation will be available for all Cherry Drive families that need to cross 112th Ave. to reach their new school. 
• Eligible bus families will receive information about bus routes and stops over the next several months.

• Plans such as IEPs, 504s, and ALPs will travel with the student to their new school.
• Transportation required by a student’s IEP will continue.
• Transition meetings to review the plan will happen in the spring between current and new school staff.

Center-Based Special Education Programs:

• The Affective Needs (AN) program at Cherry Drive will move with the full school population to Riverdale.

Seamless Transition

We are committed to a seamless transition for families currently enrolled in a BASE or PEAK program.

Guaranteed Placement

All students from closing schools will have a guaranteed spot in our BASE or PEAK programs at their newly designated boundary school.
