Welcome to super 2nd Grade! This is my 15th year teaching at Cherry Drive Elementary School however, I began teaching at age 5! My bedroom was always set up as a classroom. My stuffed animals must have learned so much! Over the course of my carreer, I have taught three years in first grade, one year in third, and the remainderof years in second grade. Every year has been exciting and memorable, as I have been lucky to teach such wonderful students. Cherry Drive Elementary is a great place where I truly enjoy being around such enthusiastic students, staff, and parents.
I grew up in Westminster, Colorado and now live in Broomfield. I attended Adams 12 schools growing up so my knowledge and dedication to our district comes naturally. I live with my husband Rob, our three year old son Declan, our one year old daughter Dawson and our 14 year old daughter Alyssa.
Here's a bit more information on my educational background. I graduated from Metropolitan State College in December of 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I completed my Masters in the Art of Teaching, with a focus in literacy, in 2009, but I look forward to continuing my education throughout my teaching career. I love learning! You'll often find me reading or taking classes so I can continue to grow as a teacher and leader.
When I’m not planning super exciting learning activities for my students, I enjoy cooking, entertaining, home decorating, golfing and spending time with my friends and family. Our family spent the summer vacationing, visitng family and enjoying the outdoors. I also enjoy listening to all types of music. I believe music is also important in the classroom, and I try to incorporate it into my students' learning.
In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. I value cooperation and collaboration both in my classroom and as I work with my peers. I believe that great things can happen when we work together! Our 1:1 iPad initiative is exhillarating and impactful. I believe we are helping fostering a true, rich environment and facillitating a 21st Century learning opportunity for all students! Cherry Drive is a special place where I really feel like part of a strong community who is working together to make a difference in the lives of children.
